Coalition of County Unions Reaches Tentative Agreement on Fringe Benefit Package
The Coalition of County Unions and ALADS
Friday, October 02, 2009
The Coalition of County Unions (CCU), which ALADS is a member, reached a Tentative Agreement (T/A) with the County of Los Angeles on a successor Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Fringe Benefits. The agreement is for a two year term from October 1, 2009, through September 30, 2011.
The Tentative Agreement maintains all provisions of the previous contract – including paid holidays, sick days, and vacation days.
ALADS representatives were able to achieve one of the Association’s main goals during the negotiations, which was to protect members’ take home pay during this difficult economic period.
The cornerstone of the Coalition’s two year agreement is an increase in the County’s contribution toward “Choices” the Coalition’s cafeteria benefits plan. ALADS members will be receiving an increase in Benefit Contributions of 8 percent for calendar year 2010 and 7.2 percent for 2011. These increased contributions will help ALADS members offset the ever increasing cost medical and dental insurances. It will also allow ALADS members to maintain their standard of living during these challenging economic times.
